I'm enjoying the old copper show - great coins everyone. Condition doesn't matter and I think the really beat up ones would have the best history stories to tell. 1795 S76a Plain Edge Another S76a Plain Edge - sharper but corrosion on reverse I started looking for a lettered edge 1795 but got sidetracked and bought the 1794 I posted yesterday. If I get one before the end of the thread I'll ask Thread Commander Moe for permission to post out of order.

I agree - the history on these old pieces means more to me than the condition.

So glad to hear that - my 1797 (the one that got me hooked) has seen lots of use!

Quote: And if someone wants to variety ID my 1794, I would love it!! Moe, that should be easy with only 39 obverse dies and 38 reverse dies First let me say that the temperature in CT went from 65 degrees to 101 in a couple of hours. That's my first disclaimer. I looked briefly at the 39 obverse dies and am thinking it may be #32. There are three reverse dies matched with obverse 32. Obverse dies 17 and 29 are also in the running. Of course everyone on the forum knows that I'm a rank amateur - but hey - it's free advice. And so that's my second disclaimer. If anyone has some time to look maybe we can solve this one. I didn't get into the reverse dies...

Double, I would take that in a heartbeat. My oldest is an 1801, so it will be here in a week or so.
