100% spot-on basebal21. I am mostly collecting for ME, but with an eye on that possibility of either "selling to upgrade" or outright selling in the future. So the "marketability" does matter some and the "investment" is a factor. Not #1 but relatively high.

Heck, if eye catch was all that mattered then many cleaned and altered coins LOOK far better than "real ones" do. When I buy certified, it is often with the idea that it is an inherant guarantee that it isn't altered - maybe not 100% but enough that a future buyer couldn't claim it either!

BTW, from your posts - IMO you GET IT! Many others don't seem to on a number of topics. Maybe they buy so little or are only in it for the $ or whatever...

Personally as opposed to buy the coin not the slab, I go more for buy the coin that correctly matches the grade you want. Most of the slabs the coin will agree with but there will always be that percentage of coins that are either very ugly for their grade or fantastic for their grade and I stay away from the low end ugly ones

I know a lot of collector's who stick to buying a few top quality coins they can afford, rather than many lesser quality ones.

I am the opposite. Really depends on preference and your wallet.
