For all who buy and sell, just letting you know that Australia Post is putting prices up again...
From 2nd July Registered post was $3.05 now is $3.20
(They got rid of small parcels up to 250g) So its $6.60 for all small parcels up to 500g

Ouch. That really hurts high volume sellers and buyers.

That cost will be passed onto buyers so it hursts everyone. I'll have to stop sending things in secure padded bags and send them in envelopes as letters. Getting rid of the parcels <250g really hurts.

What a joke. The post system is probably the busiest it has ever been, but every 6-8 months they put alot of the prices up. I shouldn't have brought that 2009 PNC 200 years of Australia Post...I think it's time to boycot the PNC's! (Apart from their limited print ones)

Our postal charges are outrageous compared with what other countries pay. It's half the cost to ship from US to here than to send anything over there. Often too customers are offended by the cost and it's not our fault, it's embarrassing really!!
I went and bought myself a new box of Reg'd post labels this afternoon.

With all the increased volume of mail being sent because of online shopping you would not think there would be a need for an increase in the cost. Maybe its just passing on the dreaded "carbon tax"? Or is that another increase in the future?

That's the trouble enworb, it will be the seller to suffer. Example is I buy round 50c coins like everyone else I suppose. I can get them for $11 at my coin dealer. On ebay, if the seller has postage for $4.00 for a round 50c, I will only bid to $7.00. That makes $11 all up if I win. Now if postage goes up to $4.50, I will stop bidding earlier. This is an example of course, but shows the seller may have to cover the extra. I sell and buy items on ebay, and I know postage plays a big part on if someone will bid on an item. Cheers

That's the final nail in the coffin for me as an ebay seller. First up, all the stupid pre-set ebay templates you have to deal with, paypal fees and conditions, then this latest impost. I used to sell lots of small value things like playing cards, Tuckfields bird cards, Weetbix cards and the like. Most only go for a couple dollars. Decks of cards at the parcel rate will now be uneconomic. As Trainerman said, buyers will factor these costs into their max. bids, and the seller suffers. Thanks Oz post

Everyone says Paypal is a money grab & yes I agree but Aus Post is worse than paypal, getting rid of the 250 gram parcel post gave Aus Post a huge increase in profit, why do they need to jack the prices up again.

I went up to my post office yesterday afternoon and asked them. The woman said as all of my parcels are classified as large letters it wont affect me. So if you can keep your packages under 2cm fat then it should be ok. I put most of my coins in Auspost padded bags and they are always fairly flat so should be fine.
