Thanks SilverDon , there were 60 dimes stuffed into a penny roll, all 80s and 90s. SSHH I didn't tell the bank.

60 dimes for 50 cents, great trade, then to get a silver dime in there to boot worth another $2. That was a customer roll that the bank did not check.
I can't believe you can still coin roll hunt pennies, 4 years after they stopped production. You know that they have to be coming from homes with a different mix, non commercial.
Great way to collect errors and varieties.

As covered in other threads, with the TD bank pulling their coin counting machines , I have found that the rolled coin is now ending up in the hands of the tellers and I have developed some nice connections(TD) who are more than willing to turn over the penny rolls instead of having to ship them off to BOC. I just have to roll my dumps now. I think there is still a lot of CND pennies out there to search if you can get your hands on them.

There's a restaurant in Lacombe, Alberta with a bar, maybe 12 feet long or so. The top is made with a solid wood slab and the vertical front is filled virtually solid with hundreds and hundreds of pennies inlaid into some type of hard putty. Old pennies, new pennies and somewhere in between, the conglomeration of shiny and not makes it even more eye appealing, absolutely awesome! Apparently around the time pennies were discontinued local people voluntarily brought them in to use for this project. Next time I'm there, I'll take a photo. I have to admit, as a collector I resisted the strong temptation to look closely for varieties!

Well I'll just say that peering at the side of a bar on my knees at midday might be somewhat attention getting. LOL! Here's a work in progress pic from their Facebook page however I don't see any of the completed project. https://www.facebook.com/cilantroan...pe=3&theater

Went through a couple of buckets of pennies today and found these two. 1981 with small rim clip. 1991 with rotated die, almost a full 180 degrees.

Those are some nice finds! I especially like that 2008 penny, very nice. Congrats on filling in the mini-sets! And wow, what a low serial number! Here are some of my best recent finds. From work: A friend of mine was about to pay for dinner using this until I caught a glimpse of the serial numbers when he put it on the table: This quarter was found at work. The dime blended in with the pavement in a sidewalk crack, in the middle of a crosswalk entering a shopping centre. Too bad both are in poor shape but I'll take them anyways. Of course I waited for cars to leave but I was surprised by the date:
