I guess it is a case of the old cliche "a coin or note is worth what a person is prepared to pay for it".

If true then the three bidders in the bidding war didn't want to wait another 3 years for another chance to secure the note. In this case the book value is meaningless when you have three bidders wanting the note badly enough.
