Both of those are real nice trout. I love these when they have a bit of colour on them.

Thanks Markn and enwarb, The second coin does have a nice colour to it and is a really nice strike.
I am still on the hunt for an UNC or better super dark coin.
Most of the UNC or better coins are blast white and a perfectly dark toned coin without any of the toning rubbed off would be spectacular addition to my collection of these

I do have 1 or 2 of them
I also have a few of the 1951 and 54 commemorative coins as well, the 34-35 Melbourne coin holds absolutely no appeal to me and is the only one of the commemorative florins I only have 1 of ( The things you buy just to complete a set )

Is that because of the price compared to the other comm. florins ? I think they are all nice, my two favs are the Melbourne Centenary and the Parliament Florin...

It has nothing to do with the price of the coins ( I spend $1000-$2000 a month on coins and the odd 3-4 hundred dollar coin is no biggie ), Its just such a goofy design.
What in the world were they thinking when they put out a coin with a naked bloke on a horse carrying a bunch of sparklers to commemorate the Melbourne centenary
I am certain that they could have come up with something more regal and distinguished than that shocker.
Looks more like a button worn at a gay mardi gra than a commemorative coin

I don't think there will ever be a perfect coin, There will always be another just that tiny bit better
That's what makes this hobby so much fun
