Some real nice coins on show here #1 - Dougs Caracalla drachm from Caesarea - Not seen one before and currently loving anything provincial or provincial style. #2 - JWs INDVLGENTIA AVGG Severus - Love the imagery on the reverse and the story of the Lion jumping the water possibly referring to a new aqueduct, brings the coin to life. #3 - Ancientnoobs Julia Domna - Just a nice looking coin all-round.

As we round the final turn, it's a neck and neck with only one point separating the two leaders. Looks like it may come down to a photo finish C'mon. Get those votes in. Don't wait till your horse comes in dead last.

Well, this one is done. Smackdown #5 is officially closed. And it was a good contest with 24 contestants. Here are the results: GOLDWith 23 points, the winner is Doug's Septimius Legionary from Rome SILVERWith 22 points, Martin's Geta denarius BRONZEWay behind , but still showing is my own Severus w/INDVLGENTIA AVGG, IN CARTH reverse with a mere 10 points Good showing for all. Some fantastic coins were shown off on this Smackdown. With the new rule I added, as winner, Doug is now the moderator for Smackdown #6 and he can choose whatever topic suits his fancy. CONGRATULATIONS!

Unless Doug can't or doesn't want to, the next smackdown is his to moderate and to choose the topic.
