So I was watching some stuff on youtube showing some impressive techniques that left no trace of digging! I am trying very hard to save up for a metal detector and I just wanna hear you guys' tips for techniques and etiquette. Any good videos, post a link! I wanna be ready to start as soon as I am able to order a MD! I will of course start in family/friends places that I CAN disturb, but I want to obviously practice NOT disturbing for when it counts!

You are definitely off on the right foot, learning proper digging techniques and to fill your holes before even getting a detector. This tells me that you will do well. All I have to is keep doing what you are doing and you will be fine. Just remember to always ask for permission, even from family. This could save yourself a lot of grief in the future.
