I posted separate threads for these before I knew what a counterstamp was. I'll put them here too. These were part of a collection of coins my sisters & I inherited from our paternal grandfather.

Found this JFK counterstamp today in a bank roll: Apparently these are pretty common according to the discussion here: https://goccf.com/t/89513

Found today in a machine-wrapped bank roll. I think it is the number 62.

aristarchus123, I think I have one similar to that in a box somewhere. I never really thought of what the markings were, but I hadn't considered a counterstamp.

I found this in a roll of quarters. Apparently a man named Ralph Waldo Emerson once called new york a sucked orange. (look it up) This was my first counterstamp and my first post so I look forward to meeting you all.

to the CCF illegal tender. Interesting connection you've made here! I wonder if this quarter was perhaps used by some literature prof who was challenging his students? Name the author and perhaps win the quarter?

Thanks exoguy! I hadnt thought of that... If not that all I can think of is some fan of his stamped it? It is very specific and would have taken a long time to stamp (The letters are very deep) so it wasn't done randomly!
