I have never seen one. Do they add to or decrease the value of the coin? I would not like to see one on a coin otherwise collectible.

Quote: Do they add to or decrease the value of the coin? The default position is decrease. However, there are those who collect them and they will pay a premium for ones they like. My avatar is a good example to use. For me it has increased value, but most would offer no more than face value.

I have a weakness for counterstamped coins and if I find an interesting one I will usually snag it. Within reason.

Divino counterstamps fom Brasil This counterstamp is the "Carimbo Do Divino" which roughly translates to "The stamp of the Divine." These were issued my early 20th Century missionaries in Brazil. Does anyone have more info on these please?

I got these 2 state counter stamps years ago, I think my dad got them as a "special gift" for buying something else coin related. The Year and State I was born in. and some other year and state and I just found this one in a coin roll, last month I think. anyone have a clue what this one might be, jack jeckel thought it might be a "Star Wars scenes with the Imperial Walker" (here https://goccf.com/t/170716) it might be a chicken with someone riding on it... and it seems like it's a family sitting down to eat.

OK I guess it could be flags on flagpoles in the background, almost wish it was on a 1976 thou. Thanks jbuck, as always you're the one to ask about this subject

Quote: ...almost wish it was on a 1976 thou. It seems like they started a year early. Maybe it was originally part of a 1975 mint set (with the dual dated quarter, half, and dollar). They thought the cent needed something special, too. That has me thinking if there are matching counter-stamped dimes and nickels out there. Hmmm... I inherited some old letter punches from my Grandfather. In honor of him and this thread I created my own counterstamped coin. Actually it may appeal to one poster in particular. I'll Put it in to circulation tomorrow and maybe some day it will make it's way to one of you.
