I am very certain that we can all agree that the "present-day" designs pale in comparison to the "classics" of yester-decades past!

A well struck MS Walker half dollar is hard to beat. I can never just pick one favorite. #1 Walker and Seated Liberty Halfs #2 Indian Head Nickles #3 Peace dollars

"A dirty black Walking Liberty half with the eagle gleaming through the black grime." Thanks, I couldn't help it after this statement describing the coin.

How old would a coin design have to be to be considered classic? Ike may be quick on the approach if it has not already had a fly-by.

HA! Many of these so-called "classic" coins were contemporary to me. Sure, rarely did a Standing Lib show a date. I can remember one which was a Type I with the date gone. Many Walkers passed through my hands. Too much purchasing power to keep. Once I dropped one and it acquired a very nice "rim ding." Many Buffaloes. Many Mercs. But my favorites: 1) Barber dimes2) Barber quarters3) Barber halvesA chacon son gout - to each his or her own.

According to the Classic-Modern categories here at CCF, the Eisenhower dollar is a modern coin. Considering that every other current circulation series is older (except for the dollars that replaced it, of course), it would be a stretch to call it a classic.
