Just a clarification on what is called "Foreign Transaction Fees". Those are not absolutely charged by us, they depend only by the contract with the bank or credit card issuer. There are cards that charge extra fees if you pay someone with an international transaction, and it seems that same fee is charged again when an international transaction is cancelled. Surely unfair, but completely out of our control.

I personally had many different cards Visa or Mastercard in my life, and I was never charged any extra fee no matter who I paid in the world, or where I was located during travels. But I think that there are cards that come with these fees, and a good idea would be to change them for who is used to buy on the Internet from international websites.

I know those fees aren't going to you. These fees are charged on all Visa, AMEX, and MC. When I travel to a foreign country the fees add up.

They are another small expense incurred as a result of the coin design changing to the worse from what I originally ordered, and my having the right to say I don't like the changed design. Then you wrongly charging me a cancellation fee for a coin you didn't even have in stock, and haven't had for months, coupled with a lesser design.

Given the circumstances of the long wait, changed design for the worse, you never had the coin in stock, you suffered no loss, charging this fee was a bad business practice.

Neil he would have a loss, due to PayPal or credit card fees that he had to pay. Many coin stores charge your credit right away for presales.

Rock he shouldn't have charged the card until he had item in stock.

btw Paypal refunds those fees if you issue a credit. So I think CC's would too. bottom line no coin, no charge customer. Real easy, and makes for good customer relations. Like the big boys do it.

As stated in earlier messages, we DON'T DECIDE when to charge card.
For security reasons we don't store customers cards sensitive data, we rely on a payment gateway named IwBank / IwSmile (secure server) that take cards data, charge it when you check out, and credit our account with amount less fees. Exactly as paypal works, they charge you immediately when you decide to buy, we get paid, and we don't know anything about payment source.

So, we can't decide to charge immediately or to charge later, it is the buyer that has to decide to keep item in the cart, and pull the trigger when he's ready to pay.

About getting back the fees, that is true if we cancel within 45 or 60 days (both with CC or paypal), after months fees are lost and we can't cancel or refund the payment.

You conveniently miss the point. The coin design changed for the worse! No charge should be made in this instance.

Powercoin doesn't make the coins, like I stated a lot of coin stores charge first and ship later, in some cases it might be 5 months later. PayPal and credit cards won't refund the fee after so many days.

In this case (bad design change) it's called customer service, if you and Antonello can't see that you don't ding the customer. Your bad. It speaks volumes about customer service.

Although I never read any of the fine prints, past experience tells me that things like fees probably are written black & white in the fine prints when buyers agree to a sales agreement. Giving the provision of an agreement, I do wish to see that dealers would sometimes go the extra mile and choose to shoulder some of the loss.

You win some and you lose some.

The real point in my opinion is that you asked Powercoin to guarantee you a coin. In turn there agreed to and charged you for it. That is how they can guarantee that you will receive it. Because of a circumstance beyond their control you decided to cancel your order. Why should that be powercoins problem?

Powercoin is an agent of the mint. The picture shown on Powercoins website changed for the worse after my order was placed. Why should I be forced to pay a fee for something that changed to being unacceptable?

Interesting that so many posts about an American with issues about a European store selling a New Zealand coin, is in the Canadian NCLT section.
