I like the shapes of both....
The Engelhard and the art bar reminds me of a fancy chocolate one may find on a pillow, minus the fact it is gold worth well over 1700 bucks verses a buck fifty, lol....
How cool is the marks on the Korean bar, very unique and no doubt many would like to add such a piece to their collection, via both pieces....

I believe that korean bar to be a standard weight, 1 Tael
Both bars are very cool, how big are they compared to a penny?

@tbk: I'm going to try to teach my boy to be as brand illiterate as possible. Man, the last time I spent $200 on a pair of shoes myself was..... well, before the baby :) @mkman123: i'll actually list these on ebay myself. I'm hoping a collector will come along and pay good money for them. That way i'd have enough from the profits to maybe get a few silver coins for keepers while the rest goes back into the pool for buying and selling, and diapers. There's that and the fact that I did have to trade gold I paid top dollars close to the height of the run up for them. @Hawk: I originally grabbed the bars only because they were odd-balls and I couldn't move my gold maples anyways. After handling them a bit though, they really do grow on you. I hope a buyer won't come along too quick :P @lukemarshall: That makes absolute sense. 1 Taels = ~1.2 troy oz, as does 37.5g. Being an Asian bar and all should've tipped me off. Thanks! for size comparison:

I didn't know Mexican 50 pesos came in Taels. I wonder what made the Mexicans take after an otherwise East Asian system.

My dad was watching a show that said the average kid in america will cost 1,000,000. They happened to be saying this at the same time that I broke the vacume cleaner and his response was... one million one hundred LOL
