Does anyone know what a 50- Silver State Quarter Proof Set typically runs?

The mint sells the new ones for 31 a year. The states shouldnt be much more than that except for the 1999s which are pricey.

BB,
$325 for a 50-coin set from 1999 to 2008, then? That would be an average deal?
Edit: Not sure it matters but the COA says San Francisco Mint

Looking on sbay, cheapest buy-it-nows are several @ #395 free shipping. Or, you could just piece together a set. Depends on how much your time is worth.

spot is the best I'd pay if in good mood ... otherwise I value them below the spot now is not good time to chase every silver coin - better concentrate on buying something rare

Ok, I'll bite. Where exactly would one expect to find a 50-coin US quarter proof set for spot, as they supposedly are quite common. H***, I'm having a hard time finding any proof silver coin at spot, let alone 90% junk silver that doesn't carry a 5-10% premium. Epay, a joke, Clist, astronomical, (been watching for 3 years now, never any deals), guess that leaves the forum classifieds?

craigslist and members like myself on CCF. I sold proof frankies, proof silver State Quarters, etc locally for melt as I needed to fund another purchase.

If you can buy a lot and resell them too. I dunno where that will end but its still low right now. http://www.ebay.com/itm/COMPLETE-90...em2c777ef324

BB was right about the 1999 being more valuable, by far, than the other sets. I watched one go on ebay for just north of $88 earlier today. But I am glad I checked here before buying. I know very little about US coins and had no idea the sets were looked upon so dismally. Guess that's what happens when a large distributor pushes too much of the same product on the streets. http://www.ebay.com/itm/-/171180345...t_167wt_1019

The 1999 full silver set is the only one I think that regularly fetches over 100 bucks (2012 might too). One of the reason why is the 1999 graded 70 quarters have HUGE premiums. The Delaware one was a 2k+ coin last time I check and they were all a few hundred each so theres a decent demand to sort though them and take a shot on some.
2004 I believe was the first year the silver proof quarters started being offered on their own which did jack up the mintage numbers some making the 2nd half of the series cheaper. 04 through the end the mintages are between 1 and 2 million, but the first four years are all under a million basically in the same range as the W burnished ASEs usually are sitting in that 800 to 900k range.
Theyre pretty much like anything else, some people consider them just silver but some people consider proof ASEs just silver too. The 2nd half of the series if you look enough you should be able to find some in 20-25 range but the first half is going to usually be more in the 30-35 range sometimes in the 25-30 range. The other thing you can do is check for full silver sets too. The full silver sets sell for about the same price as the quarters often enough theyre worth taking a look at.

Just as an update. The set that BB mentioned earlier went for $281.50. I did the math earlier and, IIRC, the spot price for these would be around $180. What's that? 35% above spot for the set? Not bad, if my math is correct. Actually the set's far less valuable than I would have guessed, which makes me relieved that I have a brilliant resource to mine on this forum. Thanks again, BB. You saved me some money.
