Can't afford much these days with the baby boy burning a hole in me pocket and the purchase of our small family's first car (public transit + 9 month-old baby = heck on earth... though car + wailing 10 month-old is still a couple of steps under purgatory). But, these two odd balls were too much to pass up. What I did was traded in 5 1/2oz gold maple leafs and a 1/2oz beat up gold panda (the only 1/2ozer I've got) so I would only have to pay a bit of a premium. Neatest gold bars i'd ever seen. Let's see if the missus (i.e. minister of finance and queen regent) will let me keep'em :) Pictures to follow tonight when I get some time Edit: Pictures here as promised - 2oz poured 999 gold Engelhard bar - 37.56g (1.21g) 9999 gold KS Korean bar Edited by poboxw 08/17/2012 12:57 am

I ordered a couple AGEz and a 2.5 gold peso from TBK, and a mix roll of Peace an Morgans myself.....
But I will be listing them to sell as I can't afford to keep any pmz right now, but like having them to sell....

Kids? Po, Hawk, you two are far braver than I am. Vet bills for my two Australian Cattle Dogs are rich enough for my blood. Someone did the math, and this was at least a decade ago, and figured it cost a minimum of 250K per child to raise the little buck burner up to 18 years of age. That's a LOT of silver.

very cool, I've seen the 2 oz gold engelhads and they look neat. Thats the way to do it, trade things that you aren't enjoying anymore and get other stuff...........cost nothing :D

Yes, they did the math but they also included a lot of things in there that most of us never get. The actual total per kid was closer to $80k... plus about $60k to get them through college, so $140k total. Yes, that is a few shekels but what the hey... we can't take it with us and our daughter did give us a couple of really nice grand kids.

Pictures added. Please see the edited first post. @traevin, Ed_B: My rough conservative estimate for birth to 16 yrs is $110k, not including activities such as sports, music lessons and the like, and the car he'll wreck, bail i'll have to post :) @SD: is he teething? you'll enjoy this I think. http://www.howtobeadad.com/2012/113...trated-guide@Hawk: we need to win the lottery. If I do, every father I know is getting a piece of the pie.

Haha, me too. I destroyed a tv cable box with my old man's sedan, rear ended a cadillac with the suv, killed a full sized moose with the van, .... When I had the boy the first thing my mom said to me was "karma" :)

Remember the thing with odd size bars is that B&Ms will offer melt or below melt. When it comes time to sell or if your leaving it to your kids, put instructions for them to sell it on ebay or to other collectors. For example 4 0z engelhard silver bars sell for a ton of money......a local coin store will give you melt or below. Best bet, ebay so please let your family know!
