This is a recent purchase and is another of those Latin American coins I like with silver content and fineness info included in the legend. It's a hefty coin which probably felt pretty good in your pocket if you were shopping in 1936 in Caracas.

The coin shows obvious wear although it still has traces of luster in the recesses between letters around the rim. I presume the coin had a flattish strike to begin with and may be higher technical grade than the loss of detail would suggest.

Any comment on grade, history, and/or value?

I would say F - VF. I've got one of these - someone gave it to me a number of years ago. An impressive crown.

I agree. F to low VF details. It has sadly been cleaned at least once, too, given the wear pattern. :-(

1936 is a fun year, though. It was minted in Philadelphia.

I'm also a big fan of Barre's engravings. :-)
