There's a coin sorting machine where I work, but the only thing it ever rejects are coins that are the wrong size to fit into the specified coin holes, and canadian, which stick to the maganet...so no silver there. I do find a lot of euros and pesos mixed in with random jewelry and garbage though. The reject bin is on the inside of the machine, so only employees get to dig through it.

That's cool that only employees see it though. If something odd does come along, no one else can snatch it!

Here is what I found in the Wal-mart Coinstar last week! The 52-D Silver Quarter was especially nice to find. I really don't know how three quarters and a dime got through but I'll take 'em.

I almost never find anything in a coin star machine but today at Walmart I found two coins.A Canadian quarter,1985 and a 2011 1 Yuan.On the 2011 coin it reads,ZHONGGUO RENMIN YINHANG YI YUAN.On the edge it has RMB.Where is it from? Any values for either one? Thanks all, John1 EDIT: I looked it up and I guess it's Chinese. Any value?

Quote: Not the most awesome haul ever, but found these. Anyone know what the bottom one is? I don't know enough to look it up. :-( Found one of those just on the floor one day. When I looked it up I found that it was Mandarin. Based on other comments, I guess that's wrong. So it's Thailand?

I found a dirty old ZLincoln early last week and two days ago my wife found a decent 1940P wheat.
Not much these days and I suspect there really was something to my guess of the person cleaning out the machine being out for a couple of weeks this past summer when I was finding a bunch of stuff.
I ran a bunch of shopping errands yesterday and checked out four machines with zero to show for the effort.

Went to the grocery about a half hour later than usual today. Two silver dimes and four other coins. And Ben Franklin says nice things about being the early bird? No wonder he was Poor Richard.

I retract my previous statement about only finding junk and foreign coins. Today's find... a 1901 O Morgan dollar. Last week I found a 1 troy oz silver bullion coin. If I find US Currency, I simply buy it off another teller for face value. If it's not currency, I get to skip the buying part :)

It kills me to see that upside-down dime in the second picture...
