errorone2012 Valued Member Canada 334 Posts	Posted 09/09/2012 11:32 pm On the 64 off center nickel , it is a prooflike off center . This coin demonstrates what an error coin can explain . If you look at the unstruck portion of the coin you will notice that the planchet was burnished prior to the strike . This demonstrates that the mint did indeed take extra steps to produce prooflike strikes . Report this Post to the Staff

Some planchets such as scalloped planchets are scalloped before strike while others such as this nickel were round before the strike with the collar forming the sides . Report this Post to the Staff
