A couple of different things going on with this cent. The area around "liberty" on the obverse appears to be the beginning of a delamination problem. The arc on the reverse if it is indeed incuse is PMD. Not from a Coin Wrapping Machine since it is not concentric. Could be the impression of the rim from another cent. Just my humble opinion, I'm certainly no pro.

I believe this is all from PMD. The indent on the reverse caused the plating to crack on the obverse.

I agree with Maineman750 as to PMD. In the 4th pic you can see an incused IBE above the LIBERTY as well as the mark on the back. I vote for vise job. There would not be any lamination since it is a 1983 zinc plated cent.

Told you I was only guessing. I still have a lot to learn, but one thing I am certain about: It's VISE....not VICE.

And do not forget to weigh each and every 83 that comes your way.

I just wonder how that "I B E" got above LIBERTY.I held a other coin against this one and if it would had been pressed on it ...the LIBERTY would had been in reverse . Come on guy's....how did they put it on there.....? Remeber Iam still learning..lol Thanks :)

Hey Monika, it's Sab. Been thinking about the reverse IBE. What about a reverse transfer? A first strike on another surface would give EBI. Using that struck surface on another surface would give back IBE. It would probably be light though because of the multiple stikes. The second IBE image on the original coin is indeed light. Whatcha think?

Ok...been thinking It still would been in reverse...meaning the letters would be facing west..the letters on the coin are all facing east. lol...i just put that coin aside for later....
