Anyways.... my Mom found this 1928A $50 Note Redeemable in Gold with number 5 in the seal - Richmond Virgina. I'm not into notes, and wanted to ballpark a value for an ebay auction. And the Serial number is one of a 1928. 1928 has more value than a 1928 A, I do agree the writing will be a problem. My price guide list a VF at $200, not sure what it would grade but my guide only shows VF, CH CU and Gem CU for this note. Report this Post to the Staff

I'm familiar with the terms for coins, but notes are an unraveling mystery to me. ... hoping to get $100 at least based on what I've seen - AND... from the time it was photographed at the bank until it got to me, the writing was "erased." I guess it was in pencil and I explained that "erasing" it probably wasn't the best thing to do, but DID minimize (almost eliminate) the writing. Report this Post to the Staff
