bmxboy - you have the wrong idea of being in business. They probably bought 100-500 units of this set at 85% or below the original list of $149.95 from the mint. For them to offer you the actual 'list price' is a gift. There is no integrity lost in my mind. Bottom line, they offered you a price, you rejected it....move on, and take your chances on ebay, or offer them up here on the buy/sell forum.

BMX boy, I feel for you. I, too, think that $200 is a fair price since the dealer can likely re-sell it for nearly $300.

Just curious, what did the other coin stores offer for this set? Better than Gatewest? Hope you don't mind my asking....

@bmxboy

I am surprised colonial acres can offer you $225! Good job! Can I use it as a proof that the set will rise in price and even the coin dealer recognize it?

Those numbers work out to about the same as buying the set as a whole.

Over the past month, $275 - $315 seems to be the range that the complete set is selling for.

The numbers work out the same, but he still has the wooden case, and that will bring a good return.
I was in on the 2012 and the 67....oh well next time.

I actually expected a little better, but I'm happy with how it went. I do still have the case which is very nice.. A buyer offered me $15 for it, but I think that's a bit low so I'm keeping it.

I do have a second set that I don't plan on keeping. Not sure what I'll do with it (sell as a whole or break up again)

One person bought 3 of the coins for $141, but didn't even bid on the 1908-1910 and he/she lost out on the 2012. That is a very focused collector.

I can see why someone might only want the 2012 but don't get why anyone would want 3/5 of the set. Oh well, guess that's what makes the world go round.
