It's had to really see from my pics. It looks like a spider web or shattered glass.

Looks like glue to me. A dip in some acetone will prove it either way.

Sorry guys...those are cracks...you can get your fingernail into the little grooves.

I agree that it is some type of residue, glue being a good possibility. Try a quick dip in acetone and it should come off. I've also never seen such a die crack on modern coins, only on civil war tokens and other exonumia.

it's glue or equivalent--modern dies don't crack like that.

Thanks guys for the help. I guess I'll look elsewhere. The area is NOT raised. There is a crack, or gap, or space. Sorry I cannot get a better pic.

if it was a die crack it would be raised. I don't think there could be anything that would cause a die to get raised marks like that.

I said crack...not die crack. I kinda ruined it. Maybe it was a planchant flaw. I scratched it up pretty good like a dope!
