Did you stay for the whole show SPP? I didn't think I seen your table.

LOL. Yeah, picked up a nice MS-65 1984 Jacques Cartier nickel dollar.

Also, a SS-8 type salesman sample brass plated token. But, I note it has a different reverse compared to those shown in Charlton. Just a small maple leaf near the top edge, rather than the centered mint logo and names (english/french). Also a small die rotation, which seems like an odd mistake for something meant to entice a foreign government.

I'll let ty the Twoonie guy explain the token fully. The 2013 Charlton is in error on those - unless there are two complete sets of different plated salesman tokens. Bill Cross mixed up the salesmen tokens with the "tourist token" reverses we were showing him. At any rate - if you change your mind, I'll gladly buy it back - those are scarce!!

Bill Cross was at the coin show on Friday - it was so nice to see him out. I didn't get a chance to show him the aforementioned tokens - we chatted about nickel dollars and the variety section.

Simply the best show for COLLECTORS that I have been to in years. The spacious bourse, natural lighting and (mostly) great dealers make this a must attend. I added some jewels at the auction, as well as from the floor. I showed some stuff that SPP graciously put in his display case that turned a few heads. Improved my Geo 5th nickels set which I thought almost imposibble! Awesome "after hours" discussion with friends at watering hole. Better than Torex ever could be. And for the record. I hope who ever bought the large cent lot at the auction enjoys the golf tee's. LOL

Toronto Expo was simply the BEST show I attended in my life: organization, dealers, friends, venue, everything PERFECT. Made me even like Tyranto (but just a bit).

The only thing that I felt a bit odd was, if there were, any members of this site present, they never identified themselves. I had something like 200 coins to show: errors, fabrications and fun stuff that travel back unpacked. I also had something like 30 offcentre twoonies (1996, no gap, EF to AU) to give away. They also came back unpacked.

Reviewing my notes and collection of RCM material, I know exactly what is the issue with the sample tokens. I will email Bill Cross and hopefully it will be clarified in the next edition of the catalog.

Over and out

No way! I bought the token, not the Charlton page. Its an amazing discovery! I expect the simplistic reverse was to allow for those quick customizations.

Very bad of me not too. I did to SPP. I was the guy at around noon on Saturday you discussed the salesman tokens with. You showed me the etched little girl example, and told me about the beautiful salesman's folder (you should bring that next time). You got me very interested, which is why I bought the SS-8.

Now, I want to know more. There does appear to be a small die rotation on the one I got. Is that the common case for SS-8?

I would have been all over your errors if I was there. Do you have a website to sell?

Just made the looong drive back home east. I thourghly enjoyed being a participant. Loved meeting all of the other dealers and the people of Toronto. It was great to see a bunch of younger collectors. We definitely need more young people in the hobby. Hats off to the organizer!
