So I went to my bank to pick up my daily box of pennies and upon a quick glace I see a few young Elizabeths at the ends of the rolls.

So when I sit down to open them I notice something strange. They are all young Elizabeths more specifically these are all 1964 pennies. So essentially I up about 2,500 pennies from 1964 all in at the very least AU condition. Is there any premium for this, or am I stuck with face value? I was hoping to search for some oldies though :/

Try to find superb BUs. The melt value is even more than the face. You could sell the AU in rolls and pull the BU. Lower conditions can be left in the melt bin. Hold on to them for several years if you want.

Personally, I would search them for varieties. Nice find!

yea I'm going through them with gloves now pulling the BUs and AUs they are all AU's so far. I swear a couple could be of MS grade, I was so surprised to find a box with all 1964s, having said that the ends of the rolls only confirm that, I have only opened 6 rolls so far. Still pretty stoked about this find. No varieties to reports as of yet.

is the description in this link: http://www.coinsandcanada.com/coins...eth-II&id=25 accurate for MS grading? Because if it is then at least 60% are MS... so far.

There are tons of 1964 in MS out there. The highest mintage of all the 60's I would keep a couple of rolls to sell raw and the rest for melt.Copper is at $3.70 and you need 140 cents to make a pound so $0.026 per piece.

I sell for 1.5 cents each to an established business that gladly takes all pre 1997 pennies and pre 82 us. I don't ask or care what he does with them.
It is a far drive from home for me to go I need alot of boxes of copper to make it worthwhile. Nickels pre 82 for 8 cents each to the same place.

I had posted here last night looks like it was removed? anyway I think I may have found a new variety (possibly) after going through maybe 7 rolls I have found 3 pennies that have either a weakly imprinted stem on the left leaf or no stem at all, does not look like PMD or wear as the coin is spotless otherwise. Anyone ever hear of this?
