barryg - If you want to "...shake things up..." w/ the bullion coins you're stacking... Buy an empty ASE monster box and discard that floor plate insert the US mint includes to make the box take only an awkward 25 ASE tubes. The box will then fit 32 CSM tubes (8x4), which you should use because: 1-Those tubes take 25 coins..... 2-You can fit CSMs, Phils, Mex Libertads (and who knows what all else?) into those tubes.... 3-The top of those tubes comes right up to the top edge of the ASE box (a PERFECT FIT! - eerily like some kind of "Higher Power" wants us to do this!). Going that route, you could buy what you wanted when you wanted and assemble a TRUE "Monster Box" that held 800 1oz coins and weighed in @ a strapping 50 pounds. That would be a Monster Box among monster boxes, plus you'd get to "...shake it up..." big-time - without having to get married to Phils to the tune of 500 coins.

Was just at a big expo with a ton of PM refiners...they all feel with great certainty that gold will be at $2000+ by this time next year. They are all saying that china and India are placing huge demands on them and as the flow of gold from the "cash for gold" resources dries up ( depending on the region of the country they say volume is down 30-80%) prices will draw higher as "natural ore" refinement is way more expensive than "jewelry ore"

I keep reading various PM threads here and elsewhere.
My opinion, why are you paying more than spot silver price for bullion? Bullion...is....bullion. Yes, there is some collector value in SOME bullion offerings, but overall, if you are trying to just buying precious metals, than why are you paying more than spot?
FIND the BULLION that you are not paying a premium for AND that you can sell at spot price. Which, also means, you need to find a buyer(s) that is willing to pay spot price.
So, go ask your favorite dealer what they are paying for PM's in various forms and make your buying decision on what they pay the most on. Of note, ask several outlets, as some may specialize in certain forms of PM's.

Are Philharmonics made by the offical government Austrian mint (?) like ASEs (USA) and ML (CAN) are, or are they commecial "rounds"? I just bought one, just to have. Same price as an ASE/ spot +$4. I would like to get more, but from this thread I'm hearing that they are a bit harder to "liquidate". Is that true?

Yes, there is some collector value in SOME bullion offerings, but overall, if you are trying to just buying precious metals, than why are you paying more than spot? Aside from 90% U.S. coinage, I have found very few instances where I could buy bullion at the spot price. If I was only willing to pay spot, I wouldn't be able to buy anything other than junk silver. The premiums for generic silver rounds are low, but they're not as recognized. Government issued bullion, on the other hand, has a higher premium, but commands a higher-than-spot return. Of course, if you buy and sell at the same place, you will lose some of that premium. Dealers have to make a buck too. I would much rather buy buy recognized bullion that carries a premium that I can recoup when selling. To me, just because the premium is lower does not mean it's a better buy. If you offered me a generic silver round at spot or a Chinese silver panda for $5 over spot, give me the panda every time.

Some may be honest and share that info, but most wanting to turn a quick profit probably not. Goes back to the old saying...."Can't always believe what you read or hear"....
In the end, one piece is not gonna make or break you, it takes hundreds if not thousands of rounds to make a difference, and you are splitting hairs worrying about profits from items that bring 2 to 4 over spot IMO....
Again the smooth rims are why many are either taken by or turned off by the Harmonics, I like them personally....
If your buying to quick flip for a profit then what you like is irrelevant anyhow, but if your in it for the long term and wanna enjoy it while you got it, why not get what you enjoy.....

The premium on those 50 peso coins seem like nothing. The answer to me is pretty obvious, yet not to others. Gold is gold. How much gold could you possibly be stacking that you're running out of room and opt for only .999? Alloys are fine because you're not stacking like crazy the way silver goes. When I run out of room I sell my lower alloy silver and buy either gold or .999 silver. So go for the gold if there's a drop, you can't really go wrong. It's a versatile metal and widely recognized globally no matter what silly design it might hold.

Wise person once said....."...watch the pennies, the dollars will take care of themselves".
A person should not be gambling in the PM market unless they KNOW the buy/sell prices of there quarry across the board. YOU need to have many outlets of buying AND selling.
So, in a nutshell, buy X bullion at $2 over spot....various dealers only buy at $1 under spot. This means, PM's must rise THREE DOLLARS before you break even. (you pay 35, spot at 33, dealer will pay 35 when spot is at 36). YOU have to wait that long to break even? The logic and the math are just not there.
