My most recent purchase. Not as much toning as I hoped for. ICCS MS65.

SPP I had posted that exact coin under the general forum. They had a topic for toned coins. Everyone had negative comments about it.... I emailed the owner and told him how gorgeous it was.

@SPP: Definitely wow.
Are there any studies on how this toning occurs, and how to determine if is artificial?

Wow HOLY *BEEP* SPP - that coin had me drooling, in fact, I need to go sell some silver to buy a new laptop due to water damage from drooling.

Artificially toned, or not... I don't care... I loved it when I saw it...

I submit that 'vibrant' toning is due to heat stress. It sure looks identical to what can happen to a silver coin on the stove top at high setting... The 25c. coin below has a warm rosy yellowish-pink glow on the cheek and neck that is impossible for my crude tabletop photo technique to capture. The bullion seller I visit regularly calls this 'junk silver'. I am more than happy to oblige! [incadescent light]^^ [cloudy daylight]v

Submitting an MS-65 to heat stress would be a heck of a risk. Trends on the coin is $3000. So, if artificial, was it worth the risk to add a possible premium? PQ toning doesn't appear to be anywhere near as coveted as in the US, where fake PQ toning of Morgan silver dollars is an industry.

1939 10c ICCS ms65. If I ever sold this one I'd have to get more than trends for it.

It's a rainbow!
I wonder if there is a pot of gold to go with it?
