A couple of the local dealers, know I have been looking
for a deal on a 1932 gold $10.00 Indian.

Today one told me of a friend, who knows another dealer
that has one. This same dealer was looking for a
1939 German Luger pistol a couple months ago and I found him one. I am hoping that deal might help me on this one,
if he remembers it was me that found the pistol.

Have other members here ever found themselves in such a situation. On one hand I am happy to have found the coin I have been looking for. On the other hand spending a lot of money for a coin that I have not seen or even talked to the dealer who has it. And knowing, making a deal at this level there is a sort of "honorable agreement" where I agreed to a price, and that is the deal.

It should find it's way to me by the end of the week.
I am hoping it will look good in my 7070 dansco, although
I think it might be a slabbed coin, I hope I can bring myself to break it out, because this coin I really want to
see every time I open my type set album.

I hope I did not ramble to much .. just excited about getting this coin ..

Um, at the high end of the business - the people who don't hesitate to drop 5-digit prices on a single coin - this is exactly how it works, and how it has for the last century.

Congrats! Cannot wait to see this specimen.

....AND...on the high end of the business....the items are not overgraded or other wise messed with. There is an agreement the item WILL be what it is...no less.

That is the way it was done in the mail order business BEFORE the internet (thanks Al Gore!)...sight unseen (for the most part).

If you have the option to opt out of the deal if the coin does not meet your requirements it is a deal to pursue. If you are somehow locked into the deal no matter what then it is not a good deal. That is how I look at any business transaction. I hope that this transaction will deliver the satisfaction that you desire, and of course at a reasonable price.

I am sure I could back out of the deal, when I see the coin... but then I am sure I would never be able to personal business with them again.

The two dealers involved in this transaction, trade in many millions (of dollars) in coins each year.

I am pretty sure I will like the coin, based on their reputation.

As has been mentioned, higher end transactions like this have always been bound by sort of an unwritten set of rules. Usually when these folks break those rules, they dont last for long. So I would imagine the coin will be a nice example, even if "only" 62.

The flip side of that is that if you DO get messed up, you can trash the guy.

No, I have not, nor would I ever pay for a coin that I cannot either hold in hand or see clear close up pictures of.

Not to be rude, but you don't even know if the coin is slabbed?
