Hi. I'm just wondering if you guys have any tips regarding good dealers to sell your non-circulation coins to. I contacted Colonial Acres, but they don't seem to take a lot of coins and they hardly pay you anything over the issue price. This doesn't seem like it's worth it since they're all the way in Kitchener anyways. Any tips? Any help is much appreciated! I'm kind of new to selling my coins. :-)

Colonial acres is fine , Its about which coins you have, I've dealt with them for the past 3 years they are great with this kind of stuff, just email before hand get a quote and ship it
Which coins do you have to sell and expected price point?

Sell 'em on ebay! Its not too hard if you don't want to list more than 10-15 items a week! Good Luck!

It's just my assumption but I think most dealers will never pay you as nearly as what the market will offer. I think it'd be best to use a combination of kijiji and ebay. You will come out with a bit less with ebay but it saves you from a lot of nonsense. You might also want to try to post your sale here on the forum once you accumulate enough posts to qualify. You will have more genuine interest buyers posting here than with kijiji or cragislist.

dealers will either pay a a percentage (my guess at least 20%) BELOW book or issue price, which ever is lower, or they will offer a percent under bullion/melt value, which can be less than 50% of issue price. Sell on ebay if you have the patience, but careful of fees and scam buyers Sell on Kijiji if you live close enough to a decent sized city Sell on the forum if you don't. I recently purchased 2 collections via Kijiji. The sellers got above issue price for their investment, I got below market price for mine, all's well.

Online seems the way of the future. Dealers have huge overheads and the best part doing it online is that you don't have to haggle. Just list it and let the market (people) determine what the item is worth.

I wish there were better places where you could sell your coins online rather then getting bent over by ebay and paypal... Who's down to invest/start a official new website for selling/buying coins online haha

There are other sites you can use to list that are cheaper. ecrater etc. However if you want the audience and the buyer/seller protection (more buyer than seller but that's a separate discussion) then you have to pay for it.

p.s. Most NCLT's DON'T appreciate in value above issue price. If you bought for issue price and get most of your money back when you sell them then count yourself lucky. There are exceptions to the rule but they are EXCEPTIONS so don't count on it.

@bmxboy: I was trying to get around $135-140 for my Two Loons coins. When I tried contacting Colonial Acres, they would only buy 1 from me at only $120 ($10 over issue price). I tried Kijiji after that, but I only got one buyer who wanted two coins. He's paying $135 per coin. However, I still have a lot to sell and it seems like Kijiji can be a slow waiting game sometimes... Sometimes I get replies, but then the person doesn't reply when I reply or it never gets to the stage where we coordinate the meeting time and place. I also get ridiculous replies sometimes on Kijiji. I would try ebay, but it seems like a lot of people don't make much of a profit after all the fees...from what I've read.

@ksimms3:
I agree. I wish there were more online options. I wish I could sell on here, but I don't have enough posts yet... I'm working on it.

I've tried looking at ebay before, but I haven't tried selling any of my coins there yet because of all the fees and the scams I've read about. I've also gotten ridiculous replies on Kijiji before, so I find it a little frustrating to use too.

$120 and you have to ship it to them as well? Kijiji is good if you have patient and if you live in a big city. You have to deal with idiots and people low balling your offer or spam you with ridiculous offer. You may finally found someone that agree to buy from the item and then change their mind in the last minute or don't bother to show up. Off course the good thing if you finally make a sale is that you don't have to pay any fees and you make full profit from your sales. I personally prefer selling on ebay. Yes, there's a 13% fee ( ebay and Paypal) but once you make the sale, for the most part, it is done and over with. That being sad, I seen people get scam on ebay as well and you have to pick items that you know could get more than 13% return or else you are selling at a lost. For example, the Two loons, for those that sold them on ebay for less than $120, chances are, they are loosing money. Only way they don't loose money on that is if they are top seller and get discount on listing or final price.

The reason why you can't sell your Two Loons on ebay at $140-$150 is because it is currently being sold for $120ish. Unfortunately, that is the current market value based on ebay. I don't know where you are going to get more than $120 for it now.
