Found this one today. Can't wait to receive it! Uncirculated 1951 George VI Penny. Gorgeous example of one of the scarcest dates of all the 20th century pennies. Mintage: 120,000

Contemporary counterfeit 1820 halfcrown (George IV). Seems to be the most common variation as I already have 6 examples of this die pair. However this one is the first one I found with much of the silver wash still present and beside the damage from the piercing its a clear strike with most details visible (the reverse die being sunken on most copies I've seen). For others interested in contemporary counterfeits - I've started a thread in the General Numismatic Forum: https://goccf.com/t/187782&whichpage=1

To compliment the forged 2/6 above, here's a beat up George IV crown that came in the mail today (though I have no reason to question this piece's authenticity). It's pocket-piece material, but I only paid BV.

Anything that features Pistrucci's St George and the Dragon design is a winner, I don't care what condition it's in.

50th Anniversary of the D-Day Landings A design representing the Allied invasion force heading for Normandy andfilling the sea and sky, together with the value "50 PENCE" Designed by John Mills I got it for £7.50 which is average price but it's a nice coin. It's also got stamps on it which makes it better :)

Another shilling of Charles I for me. Tun mint mark dates it to between 14 Feb 1636 and 8 May 1638. S.2791 Sharp E3/2 OK< not perfect, but some strong detail still there and a nice round, full weight coin with pleasing old toning. Came in a slab but I set it free! .

An excellent piece as always, Tom! Here's an 1887 JH Type 2 reverse 6d I picked up for a reasonable price this week. Like most, I'm not a huge fan of the Jubilee portrait, but it is nevertheless a type slot that must be filled.

Sort of tying in with Paulus' Aberystwyth groat, here's my latest. (Well, it's ordered at least .. hopefully on its way to me on Monday). Another shilling of Charles I, struck at the Tower of London mint. But this one (as shown by the plumes (the crest of the Prince of Wales) over the reverse shield) was struck from silver mined in Wales. OK, I know it's not a perfect coin! Off centre (or possibly clipped, I won't know until I get a chance to weigh it) and with a thin patch where the design hasn't taken, but some good detail to the reverse. And at least the thin bit hasn't affected the King's portrait too much. These 'Welsh silver' coins aren't exactly common. This one was struck later in the day (Jun 1635-14 Feb 1636) as the Aberystwyth mint stopped sending silver to the Tower early in 1638 after which it only issued coins (like the groat above) from its own dies. Spink 2793, Sharp E2/3. I got it for under the list price for coins in Fine and my feeling is it's better than that overall, so I've my fingers crossed I'll still be pleased with my purchase when it arrives! .
