These arrived in the post this morning, so chuffed with them! I know they are a bit rough however I only paid £8.37 for the pair!

Well done - it is fake. Lots floating around but ones of this poor quality are rare - wrong thickness, weight, strength and the details are fuzzy. Dont get me started on the edge inscription (looks really shoddy).

Thought you were talking about the Henry VIII groats for a minute! Who's been doing all this counterfeiting of circulating pound coins over the past few decades, anyway? Heard a figure that 3-4 percent out there are "snide," I believe they have been called?

Organised crime for sure, considering the scale. It's got so bad my bank now accepts them in a deposit without question it seems.

Police find shipping containers full of millions of them - the mint claims 1/50 is fake, but last I counted was 1/10.

People dont give them in for destroying because there are so many that it would actually be a major loss to people to hand them all in. I'm filtering the ones I see out of circulation. I dont know what ill do with them - it's illegal to be in possession of them.
