I have been wanting to store UNC notes of this series since its inception, and this is the cheapest one to start with! I am going on the hunt tomorrow!

I just came back from the RBC and the serial no on the new 20 note is BIG 4413441. Is this what they call a radar note? I started a thread earlier and I noticed this one with mote traffic.

No, this is a 3 digit repeater. Quite common.

By the way, I have a bit of old CAD. Would anyone offer exchanging some notes for me? I'll add a bit more as a thank you and shipping!

And of course, if anyone is looking for US notes or new coins, I'll be glad to help!

WD 1040, I will be leaving for Florida next week and I will take the new polymer 20 dollar note with me so I will contact you about it in a few weeks.I do not collect bills so we can make an even exchange as it only cost me 20 bucks.

I tried to get some yesterday at my local RBC and came out empty handed!

First I tried the ATM: took out $200, got all paper. Then the teller: exchanged my paper $200 for polymer bills and got...more paper. She can't control what comes out of the cash dispenser and they dont keep bills in their drawers anymore.

She says she saw some polymer 20's being loaded in both the ATM and the cash dispenser on Wednesday but they have been jamming the machines and sticking together. She says until the polymer bills get a little worn they will stick and jam the machines. Also the bill counter is useless with polymer bills; they have to buy a new polymer counter(!)

Anyway I ordered 1,000 polymer 20's and was told that would take a week. "No problem, I'll wait." Spent 15 minutes showing ID, entering PIN numbers and filling out paperwork, which she had to photocopy in triplicate. This took 5 minutes because there was another print job running and she had to add printer paper. Another 5 minutes dragged by as she discussed my order with another teller and complained about having to change the printer paper. I wrote at the bottom of the order that it "must be all 20's in polymer or cancel". A random person passed by and said, "Oh that won't work, as long as there are old paper notes in circulation they won't fill the order with polymer."

I left without a single polymer note, quite disgusted.

@malibu

Did they charge you any fees on top of the facevalue of the 1000 bills?

Just a question. Are you guys stacking away the "old" $20 bill as well as collection the new $20 bill?

@ silverygoldy :

no charge for the order but one day's interest at 4% works out to $2.20.

I tried and failed to get some polymers again today. Thinking of trying other banks.

These 20 dollar polymers are very scarce here. They are just not getting any new stock.

malibu:

They are charging you interest because you're borrowing the money I guess?

Which RBC did you go to? Two of my branches here in Montreal charge me around 15$ per pack of 100 notes.

When you say "old" do you mean the Journey series?
