Apparently there is a bit of controversy surrounding the new $20.00 bills. There are two issues, First of all, the image of the Vimmy memorial on the back of the bill shows women who are er... exposed (topless).
The other issue is that the memorial ( at least the image used on the bill)resembles the twin towers of 9 11.
Both of these issues are causing distress for some people.
This raises a couple questions , could controversy like this cause the powers that be to come up with a different design or a modified one? Would production stop or the bills be recalled? And, most important, would this mean that that we might find ourselves with another "devils face" type bill?

I doubt anything will be changed, and I really don't think we will ever see another devils head "problem" again. If the design was changed, the notes would be hoarded, and there would be much more supply then demand.

This is ridiculous, its 2012 not 1965 what do you suggest we put on the bills puppies and kittens?

Vimy Memorial is a monument in France for Canadian soldiers lost during First World War. Let's hope the 'distress' translates into proud remembrance for the fallen in the 'War to end all Wars."

remember the huge controversy about the asian being on the 100$ bill. that made about 3 news articles and had one thread and then disappeared. I think it's neat seeing new money.

I think the Vimy Ridge memorial image is very appropriate on the new $20 bill given its importance in Canadian history. Here is the official description (from the CBC website):
>>>The Canadian National Vimy Memorial is one of Canada's most important overseas war memorials. It was constructed as the national memorial for those Canadians who gave their lives in the First World War. It's located in France, on the site of the Battle of Vimy Ridge. The memorial stands atop Hill 145, near the towns of Vimy and Givenchy-en-Gohelle.
France deemed the area surrounding the monument, about 1 km², to be Canadian territory in 1922, as an expression of gratitude to the Canadian people for their sacrifice during the war and for capturing Vimy Ridge in April 1917.<<<

hey , I was just relaying what I had read. These are not my views. I was just asking if a recall could happen today. I used the term distressed because I had seen the word "pornography" being tossed around ( again not my choice of words). google it.

Sounds like the sort of people who have less than $20 of interesting going on in their lives if they're offended by the back of a banknote depicting human bodies being human bodies.

No I'm confused. Please educated me: what is the real issue with the devils face again?

Really? Breasts are distressing? The ancients had breasts all over their sculptures. Are people really offended by nature?
....So....the statue is okay to have exposed women, but paper money showing such statue is offensive? This country is soft.
