i guess it is okay to instruct family and staff that they cannot spend any coins unless I have noodled them. And I am okay with going down to bunnings at the end of saturday and sunday to buy the change off the hot dog sellers. But I do get twitchy when I see a tips jar in a restaurant or a charity box in a shop. All those coins. But I may have hit a new low this morning at mcdonalds when I borrowed a plastic spoon to flip over a 1966 Twenty Cent coin in the guide dogs collection jar. Just managed to get the spoon through the slot. It wasn't a wavey!!
Tell us how low you will go!

"I'll admit I've looked at the coins in the maccas charity bowl ..." - me too.

"... but never stuck a spoon in their and gone fishing lol" - me too, but now I know that it's possible, that's one more temptation that I might not be able to resist.

Tell me; what would you have done if it was a wavey?

I think "I will put $X in the box if you let me get that coin out" might be a win for everyone.
Not sure I would go that far, but a wavey or a mule......

I try to not take notice of charity money to avoid the awkward situation that would ensue. I wouldn't go much beyond looking at family's change to play it safe.

A few years back, I saw a Franklin half in a tip jar. The look of sadness and jealousy on my face was undesirable. I barely resisted the urge to stick my hand in the jar.

I raise money for Movember & I use money tins in my store & occasionally give out some tins to others who are interested in helping me raise money for Movember; so in short, I have a breif squiz of some of the coins, but when they're all mixed & you need a total...sometimes I just can't be...Fothered.

If you want to donate to my Movember & have a laugh & a decent read, then PM me & I'll shoot you the link. I haven't raised a huge amount this year, so every dollar is worth it; just think, if you're paying with a card, then it's not a coin worth noodling!

We have a "honesty tin" at work for buying cans of coke. I've found some good coins in that tin, mostly COF 50c, but while I'm looking through the coins I always feel nervous that someone thinks that I am stealing them.

Okay, how low will others go (not that I'm complaining), but I counted one of my MOvember tins from the shop late yesterday & I found two coins:

  • A counterfeit 1998 $2 coin (pictures below)

  • A 2010 50 cent die clash (which was in the CAB magazine)

I love a counterfeit coin (so I'll throw that in the bin), so someone's low (not that they would have know it was counterfeit).

Gotta love the Queens pointy nose, it's quite long, maybe she's just a liar or even Pinochio
How-Low-Will-You-Go?
I love how the rims, just look off, initially I thought it was lamination, but then I had a proper look at the rim...fake, fake, fake, fake.
