Will be a heck of a good story if it turns out to be silver!

Well, internet detective work has determined the 10th Anniversary logo on the back belongs to American Borate Company, but unfortunately it stops there. No mention of their 10th anniversary celebration or what they gave out, but it kept me busy.
Place with the spectrometer is closed Sundays (who closes Sundays anymore?) as is our local refinery, so I'm stuck waiting until Monday.
Very frustrating. :)

Unfamiliar, I am pulling for you. I like going to antique stores myself when in the states. I've never hit anything like that. Best of luck to you.

That thing is real I am calling it now, 45 times 32 is 1440, so I think if you clear 1400 or better you are doing great, pure profit anyhow you look at it....
Simply would sell and take that money and turn into your favorite pms, no brainer....

I think it's closer to 1300 in full spot value than 1400 if my calculations are correct.
It's 45 troy total weight, so about 40 troy in silver weight @ .900.
And they have to make their cut, so I'm going to shoot for the 1150 range, but for $3 and an easy flip into 50/50 cash & rounds, I would be happy with anything over $1,000 to be honest.

Good (great) news and bad news.
Looks like it's silver - what a score.
Bad news, every place in town is lowballing me. First place with the spectrometer said, "I'll give you 375 for it." And I said, "Dollars? Are you high?" Then he backpeddled and tried to tell me he could only pay $0.30 per gram because overhead and blah blah blah. I told him thanks for the confirmation on the silver, but he could take a hike.
2nd place hemmed and hawed and finally offered $780, which I declined, he said, "Well how much would you want?" and I said, "I'll take $1150 for it." He said 780 was his best offer, so I left.
So the bad news is, no idea how I'm gonna flip this locally -- not really comfortable ebaying it, and not a fan of dealing with the shady folks on Craigslist, so gonna have to mull this one over.

Is keeping it until the time is right to sell an option? It is still silver and will go up and down accordingly. I'd rather have silver in a different form, but it cost next to nothing and it's not like you have much money wrapped up in it.

It is a large chunk of silver you acquired for next to nothing. Keep it until you can get the value you want for it.

Congratulations of the confirmation of what you already deduced from your excellent work ... silver indeed. Appreciate the troubles to sell it ... the local dealers do have cost involved ... Best wishes with that end of the deal. David

How about a refiner like Midwest? That's the way I went with a batch of silver like this a while back and was quite happy with how it went.
