I don't see anything wrong with this coin other than I wish it was mine.

200-300$ is VERY conservative for a Nero sestertius in that condition imo

No chrsmat71 it was just a foreign coin lot and this one was just another coin in the batch, it caught my eye as soon as it fell out of the bag though.

Like I said in my first response, I've been looking for one of these that I can afford. So, good on ya. Keep it as a start for your collection of Ancients. It would be a great coin to start with.

Those, like myself, too poor to own this sestertius can get the type in an as with one of two reverse legend versions (the longer one matching the sestertius is more scarce). There is also a gold aureus of the type but I don't have it either.
So-Tell-Me-What-I-Have

It is my favorite Nero bronze type although I would like the one of him playing the lyre.

The Nero playing lyre has been on my want list for a long time (as for many others apparently, seeing the price at which they sell ).

Interesting reading some of you gave me, ancients are still not my thing so I will probably sell it. Although now I know to keep a lookout for these ancient coins, you guys made my day.

When he played the lyre didnt he use to lock the auditurium doors and no one was allowed to leave? (even pregnant women who were giving birth etc)

Great find, all the Nero coins I have seen so far are in such bad condition they are barely recognisable...
