Thank you. I'm looking for a Cheerios dollar. Where are they all?

In other people's collections.

I wish there was a way to determine that.

Let me ask you a question: If you had a Cheerios dollar in your collection, wouldn't you get it graded?

Me too. I would still like to now where they all are. There were 5500 minted and put in Cheerios boxes. I checked all the TPG'er pop reports and added up all the Cheerios dollars ever graded. The number doesn't come close to 5500.

Most of the Cheerios dollar likely ended up being spent and are buried now among all the other dollars, in circulation. I have been searching small dollars for years trying to find one to no avail, but you can identify a Cheerios dollar from the high relief of the Eagle's feathers. 5500 is such a low mintage. If you figure a few 1000+/- of the 5500 ended up in circulation, there may be just 10-20 in each state of the 50 states. You will have to get amazingly lucky.

There are supposedly, among the 5500 or so Cheerios dollars, some that did not have the high relief on the Eagle's feathers, and if they circulated, there is no way to tell that, as far as I've read. The only wat to get those non high relief Cheerios dollars certified is if they are in the orginal packaging.

If you do find one in circulation, definitely get it certified.

Where are you located when looking for these dollars?

What states were the Cheerios cereal boxes with the coins distributed in?

The Cheerios dollars without the enhanced tail feathers has a specific die marker on the obv. I believe they can be found without being in the original packaging.
