Show me your nice Lincoln roll finds! I'd like to keep the thread to rolls that cost 50 CENTS, i.e. you just got the roll directly from the bank.  Outstanding luster, this coin glowed when I emptied the roll:   Edited by BadThad

Funny thing; I've come across a large number of similar looking 61D's going through rolls lately. I set aside! any pre 70's that look spectacular, and of late I've seen quite a number!

bman - AWESOME find! To me it's amazing to find a 40+ year old coin in BU. Even more amazing for a copper piece! Check out the 1960D small date I found a couple of months ago. I about crapped when I poured open the roll, this coin immediately jumped out at me...the first one I picked out of the Brinks roll. In hand it's beautiful, the mint luster is 110%. It's a Lincoln Cent that glows in a pile of circ coins. Check out the start of bullseye toning, I captured it pretty well. I believe this coin was in an album of some sort and sadly somebody just spent the coins. I don't know how else to explain that toning. Yep I hear ya guys in my last $20 worth of cent rolls I came out with 66,67.68-P reds and two 1970-S,1975,76,77,78-Ds in red. Now seems like a good time to be searching. The one bank I go to sold out of pennies by noon ($75 worth)  OH and thanks Badthad for getting me hooked on saving all the BUs now I have a roll of 1994,95,96,97-Ds   Edited by coindexter

Cool coindexter! Just be sure you're picky about the modern BU's you find. I reject any that aren't basically MS65+.

OK will do thanks. Ya I thought I would toss all the shiny ones into rolls then later taken them back out for better studying. That way I can get most of the bad ones back to the bank and grab some more out of circulation before they get damaged further. LOL

If I may ask, what is meant by "red" or "brown" when it comes to cents/pennies? Once in a while, I see a very shiny 60s or 70s penny, was just wondering if that is what is meant by red?

It's really more of an orange color but everybody calls them red. Brown is a natural color or patina that copper takes on over time. Oxidation and normal aging will turn any copper coin brown over time. Red-Brown or RB is often used to describe copper coins with less than 90% original color but not entirely brown yet.

Found this one tonight, some spots but awesome luster. It was another one of those that "glows" when you pour out the roll:   Just for fun, I counted my finds for tonight.
