Hi I'm new to this whole forum thing and not sure how it works.
But the main reason I'm on here is because I recently bought a Morgan silver dollar and I'm not sure if it was actually graded by GSA. The coin is from 1890 with no mint mark so I think it's from Philadelphia , if any one can give me any information about the capsule it's in or the name of the gradeing company I would appreciate it. Here is a picture if you need more information contact me.
Thank you.

Your correct as the title says 1890. Usually coins with no mint marks are from Philadelphia. I'm not really familiar with TPGs...

Look up "NGC Grades Dollars in GSA Holders".

GSA = General Services Administration

You have a very nice coin in a very old holder. Take good care of them.

This, unfortunately, has nothing whatsoever to do with the General Services Administration. "GSA" in this case is a basement slabber - somebody sitting at their kitchen table with inkjet-printer labels, throwing whatever number they feel like for a grade and selling them at exorbitant prices to unsuspecting buyers. Note the company title - "Genuine Specialist Authentication." Um, no.

I'd be surprised if this coin is Mint State, and there's not a snowball's chance it's MS66. Jiggs, I sincerely hope you didn't pay more than $35 for this.

As SsuperDdave correctly pointed out, GSA is a Self Slabber owned by ebayer: coins.with.equity:

As you can see, he has (41) 1890 GSA Morgans....And he grades all of them MS66

Welcome to the community. What a great way to introduce yourself with a GSA graded Morgan. It's posts and responses like these that help us all learn more about our hobby. I certainly hope the coin makes you happy regardless of the circumstances.

Absolutely Jiggs. Some of his coin look pretty good, probably not MS66. Without having the coin in hand, it's hard to tell the true grades. If it's not in a PCGS, NGC or ANACS holder, then the coin is not graded.
