LOL I'm watching it now, I will quote his exact words...

"i challenge you right now to walk into a bank with a 100$ bill and buy 10,000 1 cent coins, I bet you will not find more than 1 2012 penny" HOW CAN HE SAY THAT!

and CC - her guess was completely a guess.. I guessed around 80,000 :)

and I completely agree with you Lithanial.

Watching too. He's a lawyer so he's pretty careful with what he says which I think it was "I'd be surprised it you find more than one".

He also said they went through 10's of thousands of coins and found only 4.

So if there is one in every ten thousand and they found 4, then maybe there are 40,000 pennies on the floor in the shop? Your GF might be smarter than we are....

"i have spent a lot of money on my collection but over time it has doubled"

3 million now worth 6 million I would guess, I would LOVE to see his collection

I went to the bank the other day with $50.00 and came out with 5000 2012 magnetic pennies. Went to another bank the following day with another $50.00 and came out with another 5000 2012 magnetic pennies. So much for his theory.

Amazing.

I went by the math, and mistaken in 10.000 only

Seen this installation in personal - looks very nice. Even my son spent 5 minutes on it, looking through the glass on the coins.

BTW, they used also a Large Penny too.

Deal of the week at his store. 5 rolls of zinc and 5 rolls of copper, just $68.88 while supplies last.....

"Canada's Last 1 Cent Coin
Extremely Low Mintage Predicted

After a 154 year history, Canada's one cent coin was officially discontinued on May 4, 2012. While 2012 mintage figures will not be released until the spring of 2013, these coins are nearly impossible to find in change, reminiscent of the rare 1991 quarter (which now sells for about $500 per roll). To make this issue even more interesting, two distinctly different types of coins were produced during the short production run. The first coins were produced using magnetic copper plated multiply steel blanks, while coins produced after this first run were struck using non-magnetic copper plated zinc blanks. While both varieties appear to be scarce, we have found the copper plated steel coins to be the most difficult to obtain.

While our supplies last, we are pleased to offer original mint rolls and original mint boxes of both major varieties of Canada's last 1 cent coin. We also have a small quantity of original sealed mint boxes date stamped on the very last day of issue, May 4, 2012. Individual mint rolls come with a custom "Last Issue" special wrap. Original mint boxes include standard shrink wrap rolls without a special custom wrap. "

I think that maybe he was speculating on the day it was announced that there would be no more pennies struck in Canada. Big mistake because now he looks quite silly. Don't trust a prophet who's in the position to make a profit.
