Ingredients: 95 Uncleaned Roman Coins
Im afraid here its going to be the clean up that takes the longest...
So, how do I post this? I reckon there will be 20 coins of good quality. Maybe 50 will be IDable as to emperor or design. Split it into batches?
Oh, and first buy the average was £1 per coin. The next 83 were at about 38p each. I'm looking forward to getting my hands on a few... my first centaur is on its way!

Ive had a look at the pictures and spotted something else- a Beata Tranquillitas! It will be my first. Now I hope I get a nice one with a fancy a helmet... The Second batch is the nicest - and the priciest. Each extra batch was only 50p extra for postafe, this being second makes the postage 50p, bringing the price up to £13 (for 29 coins - thats just 45p per coin!). This is going to be a fun one, a centaur, a nice white desert patina and some nice looking smaller ones! I'm intrigued by the bottom row though. Two from the left - I see a T, perhaps a counterstamp? Maybe provincial? And the coin above it is a lovely portrait, whats that bust called? This was the first batch purchased - once I realised no one else was watching the lots, I thought, heck, why not? £5.50! Plus £2.50 postage, makes £8 for 25. 32p per coin! A barberous looking bust in the middle ontop of an alright looking Sestertius. Some good looking coins in here. I believe this seller bought a batch of uncleaned coins - about 250 - and sold them off in batches. The nicer sesterces listed seperately and a big batch of low grade nasty ones sold off - 100 for £12.50. SO, anyone see anything nice? Something I should give special treatment?

Not bad batches of coins there. May I ask what source? I don't buy uncleaned at the moment but if I ever do start I want to try to have the names of the better dealers right from the get-go.

I dont believe he is a dealer in such things - that may be a one off. Its all about getting a batch you like the look of - Shop about. This was cheap because it ended at a weird time - I've seen lots go for 10p per coin - alright looking coins too - because they've ended at silly times like 4am.
I look at the lots I like, I keep a track of them, setting a maximum price Id bid at the first instance. Those 3 lots were, in order they are pictured, £18, £22, £15. I have a little rule for mine - take the number of coins I want - I.E. will go straight to as soon as recieving, pushing the others aside for a while - times that by 1.50 - thats the pound amount Id pay. I add some more if its a large lot or a nice lot. Of course, the amount must always be less than £1 per coin overall - I'm on a budget here!
P.S. I've decided how I'm going to organise this cleaning - sorted into batches by seller, with average per coin overall from that seller noted down. From there, divided into 3 classes - top grade, medium (detailed, IDable, legible or interesting) and low grade (worn down, unIDable, not legible or a design I particularly despise). Ill put aside a class, regardless of seller, for Rare/Scarce or anything I personally like for 'cautious' cleaning.

Looks like you got some interesting coins there. I especially would like to see how the larger ones turn out.

Echizento - The nice large ones have been filtered out by the seller - but I reckon a couple will be Identifiable - if only by the reverse design. I hope to get a seated Roma. Top picture has a sestertius which might clean up well - looks like some detail survives in the hair and the third picture I fancy I can make out a 'C' from the SC so that should come out nicely. Lets hope that T is a counterstrike - I need one for the collection!

That's usually the case, but sometimes you get get lucky and they overlook one.

Looks like fun. The radiate in the second picture might be Carausius, very hard to state with much conviction but the style is right.
