Hey Demarco
Yes, aren't they so beautifully made! I am going to getting some of the colored and gilded ones as well. Going to get a whole set too. This will be my focus series for me going forward, the Somalian elephants will be the coins that I bed my rules, as I normally wouldn't get other fractional sizes (such as I don't care for the Silver Libertad fracs, nor the Britannia, etc).

I almost bought a set on ebay this morning. They are pretty cool - very nice looking coins.

Recently picked up some of these (2013, 1 ounce silver format). Very nicely done with the combination of shiny and matte appearance. Impressed with the lack of dings and scuff marks on either side. Quality coin.

Yes they are very very well made. I was really caught off guard how fast they sold out from APMEX, that is the kilo, gold 1 oz and colored pieces. ... and then they end up carrying a bunch of older issues as well. All of this after they told me on the phone last year they were not going to carry them anymore because they werent legal currency lol. Looks like public demand wiped out that concern, which I am very happy to see. Make no doubt tho, these coins are heavyweights in Europe, the top german coin distributors carry them and yes, they are made in Germany. I am really loving hunting them all down, learning about them and I continue to, when I have time, research and ask around about them. As I learn more, I will share with my fellow collectors about these great hidden gems of the bullion and Coin World.

Well heck - I broke down and bought some of these. I even went into the colorized coins which I don't normally do - because they are all kind of cool. So I got a couple of the standard and a gilded and a colorized one just to check them out. I am not a fan of the premiums but liked the coins - so I paid a little for them.

oh man yea I have get some this week, perhaps this afternoon do some shopping, I need the colored and gilded ones as well, at least for 2013. I think I am going to get that proof set also.
And yes, the prems, you know I am not crazy about it. but I mean what choice do I have? Its the main focus of my collection and the one series I am willing to break rules for because I really like it.
Anyways, congrats on your new additions Doug, I cant wait to get mine!

starting to look like a week to sit back and watch. I did add a couple of SBSS coins this weekend but the rest of my buying is on hold looking to see when to buy. I got my gold/silver and painted Somalian coins - they are really cool looking in hand as well.

Yes same here, the colored and gilded are just out of this world, they REALLY bring out the detail in this already awesome and beautiful coins,,, I mean I just love how the elephants textured skin is really enhanced with the color and gilded coins.
I regret not just jumping on the kilo and 1 oz gold piece.
I think for collectors, this week you let the crash happen and buy a few coins such as these that have the premium then step back and wait for the next push down. Right now short term 20 on silver and gold we look for 1300 and then the reaction at these numbers.
I always like to go with round numbers because that's how these things are attracted,,,,
I just hope everyone stands back and lets things crumble.. no one should be in a rush to buy.... as I have said before there will be much better prices.
