Initally thought this was Carus but on closer inspection I now think its Carinus, best picture I can manage, sorry. A K M A KAPINOC CЄB Elpis on the reverse, LB, year 2 coin (284-5AD)Not bad for $9 shipped Becoming quite interested in these tetradrachms, in truth anything provincial, little else is interesting me these days. I may even be getting the hang of Greek inscriptions Edited by bobbyhelmet 01/02/2013 5:30 pm

Nice one Bobby, the legends on these small tets can be difficult to read.

Tell me about it The K and A are so far apart whereas the P and I are almost on top of each other. Had me puzzled for a while.

It can't be Carus because of his short reign Alexandria minted only LA year 1 coins for this ruler and no Elpis reverse for him Your Carinus is Emmett 4007.

Nice coin. I like these Tets. I picked up three awhile back, very reasonably. A good type to collect.
