I'm not big on world coins, but the more that I look at the Libertad, the more that I like it. I don't have any proofs yet, but I think that I would like to make the 1oz Libertad my first. Where can I find one? I'm on Provident and APMEX often, but they have been out of the proofs for a while now. I'm not concerned with the year, as long as it is the newer version, a proof, and in good shape. It will most likely be my only Libertad (except then I'll want to buy the BU version of the same year coin, and then maybe the smaller denominations of the same coin....Crap another addiction that I don't need.)

Not even ebay? Well, Talisman coin only has regular BU. If you still want the proof, you can try adding them in your want list in APMEX of Gainesville. I was alerted via email by Gainesville when they finally have one. Good luck.

I've found them on the bay, but the price is horribly jacked up. Yeah, I've only done a bit of bullion for a year now, so I'm not sure how it works with APMEX or Provident restocking with their bullion. Both have been sold out for a long time.

I saw one at APMEX $69.99 with OGP & COA. There are not many dealers that have any bullion for sale at the present time...probably waiting for the price to go back up. Here is another; phoniexgoldllc.com $58 free shipping

I'm a little worried about buying bullion on ebay. It was for the right price though. I may have to look into it again though.

The libertad bullion coins are very low mintage, 1998 had a mintage of 67K of the 1oz, I think. The proofs have tiny mintages, most years are 10K or less of the 1 oz. 1982-1985 had 998 minted, 1998 had 300, saw a 1oz 1983 pf sell on ebay the other day for $645 USD. This was the only 1983 pf I have ever seen. I have a complete collection of the bullion 1oz and some proof 1oz, 2oz and 5oz. You will pay a very step premium of 2x-6x above spot for the lower mintage years of the bullion and you will pay 2x-3x spot for the more common proofs. The rare proofs will be almost unobtainable, if you do have the chance to buy a rare proof libertad, expect to pay.

I'm not even looking for the rare. I'm just looking for a "type" 1oz. Any year will do for this coin.

That works. So, I'll probably be finding myself an 86. I know that Provident had them for a bit right around $50 and then when I finally went to buy one, they sold out. APMEX was asking in the $80 and up range the last that I looked. I just want to find a nice coin for fairly cheap. I just love the design.
