hey guys, I've posted this dollar a while ago and later did a magnet test which proved this coin to be fake/a replica. Some folks on here told me that this coin could be worth something so I listed it up on Yardsellr for $30, do you think this is a good price? Also, I noticed that this coin isn't marked with "copy", therefore would it be illegal to hold it/possess it do you think? Thanks for your help.
If you are 100% certain that it IS a copy, impress it with a tiny 'C' and keep it! A fake such as this would make an excellent piece for your own education in protecting yourself from other fakes.
It is a pity that the patent didn't call for a gold coloured goloid. Aluminium bronze presents itself gold coloured, and is more chemically stable than brass. (Cu / Zn alloy)
A typical coinage Aluminium / bronze alloy is 92% copper, 6% Al, and 2% Ni. Perhaps a gold coloured goloid alloy could contain 4% gold, which would substitute some of the copper. That would be a cheaper alloy to produce, because it would contain no silver.
