Gatewest/Abern has them too. Don't worry about them awaiting stock they'll be for sale anytime now. As far as I know masterclub members didn't get first shot on these. ðŸ'½ Yes WAY overpriced, should be closer to GO7 $89.95. ðŸ'¹

The pricing is jut ridiculous.

The 1/2 gold Jacques Cartier with mintage 2000 = 1200$
But the 1/2 gold Baseball Celebration with mintage 3500 = 1550$

Is the mint trying to hike their price again?

Agree price seems high on these coins, but since it may have more of an international appeal than say a strictly Canadian themed coin, there may be possibly more demand.

The Mint will continue their overpricing unless the masses boycott, but with a January release these coins will probably sell out this year.... Most coins released this year are priced higher, have higher mintage's, or a combination of both.

From the RCM's website:

"Your coin is part of the officially licensed Coin Program of the 2013 World Baseball Classic tournament"

It would appear that the RCM is paying a license fee to the WBC in order to issue the coins. This is at least part of the reason for the higher than expected price for each coin.

Per Talisman:

Your coin is part of a 7-coin program featuring coins celebrating the game of baseball!

It could be that the Canadian coins are the program.

Wow! I was not expecting that high of a price. My father is a huge baseball fan, and I was thinking about getting one for him but not at that price!

A swing and a miss.

WBC not MLB per se.

Interesting article - http://www.thestar.com/sports/baseb...ball-classic

I don't understand why the RCM is doing these coins and calling them Canadiana. Canada has had no success at the WBC. And to that the crazy pricing and that sports related coins generally don't hold value; these coins seem destined for the scrap pile.
