Hi everyone, I bought this at flea market today for $25.00. Stopped by a coin shop on the way home for more flips and asked the owner to take a look at it to see if it had been cleaned. He said it had not been cleaned and I made a good purchase. He also said it had one of the more ratical die cracks on the reverse he had seen. I was so glad that it had not been cleaned I forgot to ask his op on a grade.

Sorry if the lighting is bad, this was the best I could get it.

Fascinating coin. The somewhat weak obverse is balanced by a plainly Mint State reverse; I'd call it a good MS63 or weak MS64. The die cracks are not astonishing for 1899-O's; this is a particularly good year if you like cracked Morgans, and I've seen them darn near all the way around the reverse. A couple points of interest:

1) The date is way low, and I think tilted. Dates and mintmarks were hand-punched into the dies, and vary in location.

2) The mint mark is high and tilted far to the right.

These two factors combine to attribute your coin as a VAM-10.

I would say MS-64. Nice luster, good strike and no seriously detracting marks. The die crack is cool, too. Well worth $25 in my opinion. ~Jim

I agree that it's a good buy, especially if you like the coin. The obverse is not flashy or real well-struck but the reverse is lovely and I agree with the 63/64 range.

Good coin--

I am soo happy with this coin I can't stop smiling.

It's the first Morgan I have bought, my others where given to me and have a lot of sentimental value, but most have old cleanings and a couple are toned and not in a good way. I put it in a new airtight and put it with my others, it really sticks out.
I may have to sneak back to town tommorrow and go back to the Flea market and see what's left. If I do I'll remember to take my RedBook this time.

FishnwidowThank You Everyone!!!!
