ICCS has the 2012 population report as:

a total of 17 in Mint Sate condition, which is pricey

and a whopping 289 in PL condition, still pricey.

How is this possible that most of the Low relief coins are grading to PL condition? Seems weird to me.

Anybody know anything on this?

The ones graded as MS were in error, all '51 low relief are PL strikes.

hi DBM,

how do you know that they are all suppose to be PL ?

Charlton book (2013) has the MS-63 @ $2500.

I certainly don't want to be buying these coins right now if this was a TPG mistake.

From CCN Trends "LR PL Only issue,MS coins are misattributed"
I put the in my previous post because like artdio I have owned a circulated one.

PS:I have one PL66 I'm sure to lose money on.Until the PL vs. MS situation is sorted out without doubt, caveat emptor.

I'm a bit behind the times on this issue (looks like :). What situation is being talked about between PL & MS?

That's really unfortunate news. hmm

There's more money involved in coin collecting now than ever.

TPG has had such an impact on the hobby that mistakes like this will continue I'm sure of.

Sounds similar to the NBU problem.
