Not on one single coin but the most I've ever spent on coins at one time was last summer when I got 2 of the 20th Anniversary gold sets. $5,200.00.

I spent $50 on a VF St. G. back in 1963..price of gold a that time was $35 per once.

Ha!! I'm cheap. I don't go for uncirculated, or even silver for that matter. (Okay, a few). The most expensive coin I bought was a 1919KN British Penny, and the shipping cost more than the coin, but since I'm down to just the key dates (post-1900) then it was well worth it. I forget what I paid (I have the receipt here somewhere), but it was certainly less than $25.
On the other hand, I have spent as much as $80-100 for bulk lots of coins before. It's the thrill of the "hunt" that drives me. :)

I paid $1100.00 for $0.11 a couple of years ago.
$666.00 for my '09-S VDB and $434.00 for my '16-D.

So far I haven't gone over $50. I can see that completing my 7070 will easily pass that mark, even if I don't include the gold page.

I think after finishing my Indian Head cent collection I should go for doing a 7070. That'd be fun. And ridiculously expensive. |

I spent almost $400 for the 1928 Peace dollar to complete the set and thought I had overpaid based on the seller's description and the picture but it turns out to have been undergraded and was well worth it. A good time to get lucky! |

$500 to $1000, many times in this price range. The latest would be a 1909 $10 Indian Head. Paid $550 for it. Will send it off to be graded as soon as I can assemble a few more grade quality coins. It will grade MS-62 and I hope 64.

I had to say 2500-5000 because I did buy a MS-66 1878 Morgan once and it was in that range but that is not an everyday accurance

$3800.00 for a type two One dollar 1854 Gold Coin...Many others, mostly 18th century U.S. type coins between $1000.00 and $2000.00. I have not had that kind of money to spend since I got sick about 4 or 5 years ago. I doubt I will ever get back to spending that much on any one coin. Quite frankly I get just as much pleasure out of a nice $50.00 coin! Mike |

My vote is for the $250 to $500 range because I've paid close to $500 a couple of times. I get really weird about spending that much for one coin, though. The vast majority of my coin purchases are now in the $100 to $250 range.
