Does anyone know if this coin could have the solder removed without destroying the coin? I did some research and found many of these were made into jewelry. This seems to be in nice shape even where it was soldered.
You will see a lot of looped and other jewelry commem gold dollars. I would leave it as it is. Ernie on ebay has/had one offer where the loop had been pried off. This one looks much better. I'm looking for a gradable circ one for my lowball gold commems set.
I saw the one on ebay it went for $479.00 I see no solder on the coin faces of this coin only on the rim.Don't know much about grading but I cannot see any scratches on the coin either.
I think it's important to note that whether you remove the solder yourself or you have a professional jeweler do it, the coin will always show signs of being a jewelry piece and will not be graded by a top-tier grading service.
