Upon the passing of my BIL, my sister has tasked me with going through his coin collection. He chose to purchase quite a few NCM items and it is a pity he ever linked up with them.

They market the heck out of their offerings and often include "free" display boxes for the junk they peddle. They are numismatic snake oil salesmen looking for rubes to buy their garbage. They sell "pretty" collections for astonishing amounts even to this day, e.g., their so-called CC Morgan "tribute" proof collection. Over $250 for a display with less than a third of an ounce of silver. . .

The real problem with NCM is their "wooden" display boxes are vinyl woodgrain over MDF and emit toxic fumes when you burn them.

I remember when these ads came out. Two problems I had:

1. What would silver be doing in the rubble of the WTC?

2. Taking anything away from the WTC rubble is tantamount to grave robbing. And to then turn it into profit? I shudder at the thought.
